Follow me on twitter

It's only 2 days to go before we head off on our roadtrip. Last minute preparations are underway. I got a pedicure yesterday with the colour 'tropical punch' to set the mood! There is stuff everywhere as I attempt to pack. The weather is proving a challenge as winter seems to have set in early so I need to pack hot weather gear for Florida and cold weather gear for Atlanta.

I won't be blogging for a while but I just signed up at Twitter so you can follow me at #noatomfish
You'll hear the delights of eating DoleWhip, ride along with us in 'it's a small world' and marvel at how many times Lucy asks 'are we there yet?'.

See you in a few weeks.

It's called Autumn, people!

On Saturday we went over to Lewis Farms traditionally famous for their strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries to look at their pumpkins and mums [chrysanthemums] We took some photos and Lucy got to try out the pumpkin pie icecream. It must have been delicious as she ate every last drop.

Saturday night we took a pavlova over to the Vega's house for Joe's birthday and had a great time catching up with them, their parents and the newlyweds Sean & Kelly.

We also squeezed in a few games of Carcasonne with so many more add-ons that Andrew has been buying.

Sean & Kelly's Wedding

On Saturday we attended our first Southern wedding a long held wish we have had. I had originally thought that this was our first American wedding but Andrew reminded me that we flew to Seattle to attend Kirk and Bethany's wedding in December 07. (I guess Kirk's wedding still felt somewhat Australian!)

Our good friend Steve presided over the ceremony at Myrtle Grove EPC, the first church we visited here in Wilmington. We then dropped off Lucy at Miss Betsy's house for a partial sleepover. (Betsy I hope Desi has recovered from Lucy's overamorous attempts to catch him in a bag!) And we preceded on to the Watermark Marina for the reception, which took some finding. Henry was awesomely asleep until someone spoke into the microphone. From that point on he was AWAKE but having a great time cuddling with various friends. We had a Southern buffet (chicken, pasta, salad, apple pie and to drink sweet tea on tap). So what were the differences? It is hard to make blanket statements as each wedding is as different as the individuals involved. However some Southern traditions: the grooms' best man is his father, lots of bridesmaids and groomsmen, at the church the groomsmen usher lady guests to their seat, family candles are used to light a new family candle. As with all weddings there were lots of well dressed happy people, a good looking bridal couple, proud parents and dancing! Congratulations Sean and Kelly!

Happy Birthday Amy!

To celebrate our good friend Amy's birthday Alexis and I took her to Sunday brunch at Boca Bay. We enjoyed mimosas, omelettes and a Devil's Food cake made with Lindt 85% chocolate. Andrew, Lucy and Henry also had brunch there but we made sure they were in a different room!

3 weeks to go and counting

It's been a long time between vacations. For regular readers of this blog you'll realise that this has been killing me. Our last family vacation was this time last year when we visited the New England area and celebrated that great Hawthorn victory! (Last year was a great year for travelling as we visited the Outer Banks, Washington DC and Boston)

This year Henry arrived (yay!) so we have just one vacation planned but it is a big one! Big as in very exciting and very expensive: very exciting for the 3 year old and very expensive for the parents. We're heading to Disneyworld in Florida in a few weeks time. It is our once in a lifetime trip to Disneyworld so we are going all out. Along the way we're going to explore Savannah GA, Tampa FL and Atlanta GA. We'll be adding two states to our 'visit all 50 US states' quest (updated tally: 20 states) and we will be visiting our friends Jackie, Tim, Ben and Mitchell.

There is much planning to be done in the next 3 weeks. Aaahhhh!!! Sleep Henry Sleep! Ideas welcome - so feel free to leave comments on Florida and Georgia.

Do you really need 2kg of shortbread?

For $20 at Costco you can buy 4.6 pounds of the finest shortbread in the world. That is a lot of shortbread! And it is oh so good.

Dad you would be going crazy with this box and your cholesterol would be out of control!!
