Product of the week - Thin Mints

Last week we offered around Australian mint slices at bible study. Everyone was very impressed and asked where to buy them. We can get them through our Aussie website but everyone was disappointed they weren't available at World Market. In any case we were informed that the Thin Mints sold by the Girl Scouts were a good substitute. So when we were at the hardware store on Saturday and saw a Girl Scout cookie stand out the front we snapped some up. Whilst they are very good unfortunately they aren't the same as mint slices (no separate minty layer).

I have moved around the world of Mint Slices, over the years.

In my opinion, the "You'll Love Coles" mint slice takes some beating, with its rich, thick dark chocolate, creamy mint, and not-too-hard, not-too-crumbly chocolate biscuit base.

Taste it against the original some time and I know which you'll prefer.

Aldi also make a not too bad mint slice.

But all this apparently means nothing in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Cheers,
Adriaan (who should be talking about a new baby right now, not mint slice)

When I visited Ithaca, NY, I grabbed some of these Thin Mints from the stand in the mall after the church service in the movie theatre with the ghastly grape juice. They were OK but definitely not a patch on the Mint Slice.

A good competitor for the Mint Slice, however, is the Mandarin Slice! Slightly bitter, wonderfully delicious. (I find the Cherry Slice to be just a tad sickly-sweet...)
